Biking in Banff, Canada in a storm.

While biking on the Icefield parkway I discovered this video feature on my camera which is my very first movie. The tempature was -20 degrees celcius and the winds were high. The highway was closed twice due to avalanche control. It was GREAT fun!!

Quite a feat biking across Canada in the winter. There are people who even thought I was crazy biking across USA in the Summer. There are even people who think it's crazy to bike across town! I saw Calgary TV clip about tow truck driver who suggested taking Greyhound. That would be less memorable and not so likely to make the news.

Have a safe journey.

Wow, that is quite a video Rune! Not sure how you did that without falling off the bike! Technology is great, isn't it? To have a video feature on your digital camera is wonderful! I also saw the film clip from Calgary News at 6. Loved the part where the trucker "waved" at you by honking and you waved back! Also, that looked like a great meal the hostel fixed you!

Have a safe trip!

Amazing video ... and I think the truck driver who suggested you take a Greyhound forgets that people have braved those mountains in winter for hundreds of years at least, before the advent of cars, on foot or horseback ... there's no question its a difficult quest, but hardly an impossible one. You will no doubt gain from the attempt regardless, so ignore folks like that and soldier on, I say. Helluva trip, and I'll look forward to tracking your progress. Have fun, good luck, and ride safe ...

Fun, huh? Now you're living! Too bad you had to deal with such awful weather up until now. -20C is good stuff. Like Hawaii. Or Oslo. Rubber side down!

Hei Rune, tøffe forhold gjennom Canada. Er imponert over viljen din, hvor henter du motivasjon i 28 kalde? Sliter nok med de 10-15 kalde vi har i Tønsberg i dag. Bra artikkel i Calgary Sun. God tur videre.

Dude, it's not crossing Canada on your bike in the middle of winter that is crazy, it's doing this without the proper equipment. I cant believe your bike was even not properly adjusted for you until recently!! I have done some winter biking myself. With proper clothing, it's okay. With proper tires, also. I'm not saying it's always easy. It's a challenge against nature and it can be fun. But you have to have the proper equipment. Frost bites are an indication that you're not protecting yourself properly. Good continuation anyway! What road are you running on? You're not using the transcanadian highway I hope?! You're not supposed to, lol... I think you're brave but I think you should be better equiped. I wish you more good times and no more frost bites!

Have a safe journey, Rune. If I had known where you are staying in Thunder Bay I would have offered you a good Finnish sauna and a dinner.
